SHELTER
6 to 15 July, 2012
Die NeuEröffnung, Dachauerstraße 110 - 114, Munich,
www.dieneueröffnung.de
SHELTER has been realized in cooperation with Robert Bauerfeld.
SHELTER is a temporary parking lot. An interim arrangement. Transportable water.
The Spitsbergen Project is just returning from the Olympic lake. For the lake triennale, the project went afloat.
A new element. A different consciousness. And SHELTER is a proposition to keep it like this for a while.
SHELTER begins with what the lake triennale has left behind.
And in the midst of the exhibition "Die NeuEröffnung" - "The ReOpening", The Spitsbergen Project encounters
the area of Munich's future "creative quarter" at Dachauerstrasse.
The area is inhabited by the mullein verbascum. The mullein with the broken crown. And SHELTER comes into
contact with the mullein. And they create an image together. Until she is run over. Totally gone. Right above the roots.
And now she is free and goes on board.
And SHELTER becomes a pause. A stopping of motion in the middle of a fair. There are two images everyday.
And nothing else. The plants swim and sway with the wind. And nothing else. And on July 15th, from 5 to 10 pm,
the pause opens into a final rehearsal for an observation with verbascum.
And at that time, SHELTER is already standing outside of the fair...
