39 Savoy cabbage plants. 4 cubic metres soil. light for plants.
Growing cabbage underground like this is absolutely unsuitable, but it is safe - like a bunker.
The Svalbard Global Seed Ark on Spitsbergen is secure against any atomic or other threat. Thus, it
seems to make sense to determine whether cabbage would grow underground, too. Cabbage plants need a
certain time and rhythm. They need their particular seasons and months to grow properly. For that reason,
the plants were dug up in a field and then allowed to continue growing underground.
Stockpiling 2022 . 17 October 2009, 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Finally -during the Summit’s last night (coinciding with the Long Night of Munich Museums)-,
the cabbage is boiled down in salt water to become part of Stockpiling 2022.
